Often called "insurance", risk financing is the process by which an organisation manages the sources and uses of funds with which to finance recovery from accidental losses.

Risk financing requires planning and arranging for the sources of funds before such losses occur and then directing and controlling the funds drawn from these sources after losses occur. Too often, corporations are reactive and call for advice only when there is a problem.
